You can use a beard trimmer to get the grass to about the height of the rail.

Prototypically, trains tend to leave their loading gauge perfectly trimmed on grass growing over the track.

I was thinking of something similar to my Philips MG3730/15, but that might be too wide for what we need here.

Maybe a beard styler type of trimmer might be small enough for the job.

The Gillette Styler or the Philips PHMG1100/16 might do the trick, but please find one that's cheaper.

I just go crazy for that row of shops you created. They look like an oil painting and capture a feeling that is not often seen in model railways. 10/10

i'm currently putting it on a new module the old one is too narrow

this one will abide with the railways 20-30 meter row wide 🙂

This is what we call selective compression, or something like that.

all good! I’ve tossed 1/160 to 1/142 stuff into my Japanese n scale. One good thing you have is that “oil painting” feel that Tom mentioned which helps the minds eye take over the viewing of your scenes and the visual memory tends to fill in things. It’s a really interesting sort of filter that is very fun and different.

cheers,
