State Railway of Thailand receives surplus ex-JR Hokkaido kiha 183 units

Dec. 13- State Railways of Thailand (SRT) received 17 ex-JR Hokkaido kiha 183 units at the port of Laem Chabang.  The intention is to refurbish these units for chartered tourist train service.

I wonder how JR determines the service life of rolling stock, and how the parameters differ in Thailand, because these things look rough.  The Niigata builder plate around 0:27 is from 1982.  Seating looks ok, much how I remember limited express interiors 15 years ago, which were probably refurbs from the late '90s.  SRT previously got one KIHA 183 car in 2016.  I wonder what you do with only one KIHA 183.
