Preparing for winter on Hakodate trams

Checking out a Hakodate snow sweeper in preparation for winter. On a street a snow plow does not clear the flangeway, whereas a snow sweeper does clean down into the flangeway.

Interresting to see that the strands are not in plastic, no, it's a natural material (look like wood or very strong straw, a bit like thatch roofs

In the old days in the U.S., snow sweeper brooms were made from rattan, which is bamboo-like. The same material, slit down into thin strips, was also used to weave a durable seat covering.
