Amazing comparison Sacto, thanks for posting the 1986 video. I've watched several recent Chuo line videos but have never seen anything from the 80s. The difference is truly mind-boggling, especially in central Tokyo! You could call some of the stretch between Tokyo and Shinjuku "semi-urban" by today's standards; it's like the city wasn't finished yet. And the drop-off in density after Nakano is staggering.
