Today I wanted to show my Hornby OO Gauge Crane and Track Maintenance department Coach.The Crane is a BR ( British Railways) S.W.L 76 Tonnes Crane and Includes Two Support wagons,The crane itself and a Flatbed car for the crane arm.Together this cost me around £2 Just for the Track Maintenance department Coach as the Crane was a Free gift!

Thank you for the little trip back to old Blighty. I grew up a stones throw from the Great Yarmuth-Ipswitch line. Not that I threw any stones. Did place pennies on the rails though.

 

I would hazard a guess that the yellow fish van is missing its roof. A bit of gray card might help its look and make it a little less translucide 👍

Some more stuff..this time a Triang LNER B12 steam locomotive ( number 1512) With two Hornby Mineral Wagons and a GWR Toad Brakevan!

Here we have some high quality Bachmann Products that are second hand. The wagons here are British railways Plywood Fruit vans and a 20T Toad brakevan

You’ve got a nice little collection there. The Class 25 in the shed looks quite nice in BR green. I always get a bit nostalgic about old British diesels, even though these were being retired when i was very small. Nice to have. I always wish I had a few more British pieces in my collection. I hope you’ve decided to hang on to them. I think you’ll regret it if you let them go.

I have the Llanidloes allocated ex-GW brake too. The real station closed in the 60s along with the rest of the Mid Wales line, the building has survived but the trackbed is now a cutting housing the Llanidloes bypass. The very last trains were of "Presflo" cement wagons for the Clywedog Dam project, after the line had closed south of Llanidloes.

 

Suitable locos would be an Ivatt 2-6-0 tender loco or an ex-GWR Dean Goods, not much else could run on the route due to it being fairly lightly constructed. A mix of pre-nationalisation and early BR wagons would make a suitable train, most I have seen were of vans and open wagons carrying coal although I have a photo of a train including a couple of gunpowder vans at Builth Road Low Level.

Time for a British freight legend the BR Class 58 in Railfreight grey,this loco doesn't run sadly as it needs a new motor

A classic. Just need some coal hoppers to go behind it when it runs again.  Looking at how orange that yellow is, could be the lighting of course, but I would say a Hornby model.

 

Growing up, I always favoured the Lima colouring on models, just looked closer to the real thing for me. Had to bite the bullet when it came to electrics as it was only Hornby who produced the class 87 in IC Swallow and 90 in RF Speedlink.

 

Sadly all were sold as a job lot by my father who now has a lovely collection of 00 steam locomotives, some bought with the proceeds. Hopefully all gone to a good home as they were very well looked after.

Oooh, 58001 is the only locomotive I ever had a cab ride on.

 

I only ever had a very small collection of OO models (still have most of them), but have since made up for it in N:

I think the 58 motor is the same Mashima one used in all sorts, I bought one in a mount intended for a trainset 0-6-0 recently for well under a tenner. Just needed to pop it out of the mount, swap the worm and solder a couple of wires on to fit it to an old Dapol J94.

Here we have the famous Eurostar!

this runs from England to France,they remind me of the shinkansen engines because of their speed!

Question of perspective, as a Frenchman and a Parisian, I would say that the Eurostar runs from Paris to London. This perspective is not helped by the fact that the biggest shareholder is the SNCF, that the e300/TGV TMST/Class 373 was build by GEC-Alsthom and that the HS1 was built using French standards 😉

Indeed, they are both HST.

I'd say the Eurostar runs both ways, otherwise you'd have all the trains ending up at one terminus :P.

I tried, but I failed. I prefer cities on the Continent.

Never knew the RATP owned such a subsidiary. Having the stylized shape of Paris on a London bus must have been... irksome for some.

I'm aware of that. Long time ago, the French RATP (which has the monopoly of public transport in Paris) - supported by the French Government - decide to answer to RFQ over public market abroad. It started in UK first with London bus lines (each bus line can be operated by a different operator, but all of them are bound to the same obligation of results such as regularity, on-time etc ... with penalties). RATP is also in South Africa, Sout Corea, North Africa (Algeria, Morroco), Italy, USA, Qatar. 

 

What is also fun is - despite RATP mean Régie Autonome des Transports Parisien (Paris), they are also in plenty locations out of Paris in France

This is the 'Old' Alstom version of Eurostar. The new one, multi-motors, is done by Siemens. 

 

Merger of Eurostar & Thalys is forecasted in Europe (which seems quite logical in the end).

According to Les Echos (https://www.lesechos.fr/industrie-services/tourisme-transport/la-fusion-thalys-eurostar-a-nouveau-sur-les-rails-1351776) it's should be a capitalistic approach of the merger at holding level first then a unique coming brand should be 'Eurostar' ... but knowing SNCF turning TGV into a european unpronouceable 'Inoui' ... let see.
