EF5x - spare wheelsets - KATO Tenshodo Tramway

Hi folks

I have a Rh 1080 ÖBB electric locomotive made by Kleinbahn (Austria).

This loco had the common problem of Zinkpest (detoriation of ZAMAK molded parts).

Well known problem by poor raw material and process control after WWII and around 2000 since the models started to be built cheap in China or in the near east (as with the 1080).

Have a look to some pictures in a German forum where impressive destruction can be seen.

I removed my frame before plastic parts were harmed (lucky me).

Now I'd like to make this loco good for display case.

The prototypical whees are 1350mm diameter which make 15.5mm in 1:87

I searched but only found the Roco Rh 1670 (in picture right) with these ugly old NEM wheels.

No more search results for spoke wheels RP25 at least this weekend.

But Then I noticed  the EF5x locos in 1/80 provide the same diameter in 1:87 (15.5) but with RP25 wheels!

The ugly detail is the distance of wheels 1-2 and 4-5 which is 17.3mm in model of Rh 1080.

The Kleinbahn model had wheels without rims (maximal ugliest option = see at an image and scroll down to the 5th picture).

The Tramway wheel has 17.2mm outer diameter.

The KATO has a perfect 16.9mm PLUS(!) small stub axles to take the excenter for the outside rods.

Now the question is how to get hands on 5 of these wheelsets made by KATO (best fit!), tramway or Tenshodo.

German KATO importer told Kato is slow and an answer might come not before 4-8 weeks.

Has anyone of you experience in spare wheels purchasing from these 3 companies?

Thanks in advance for any helpful input.

Kato replied to me on twitter within a few minutes once...

Try finding out the part number you need and then search YAJ or drop RG-Rokko a message, maybe you‘re lucky 🙂

Thanks

But 2 problems.

I already searched for the part number but only found the whole bogie (2'C) as spare part.

I'm neither on twitter, FB etc.

What is YAJ? This abbr. is new to me.

Yahoo Auctions Japan 🙂

You can also send RG-R a mail through their website.

If you‘re unlucky you will have to buy the whole bogie, but I can‘t confirm nor deny that.
