I got myself a loose 485 6 car set. I was wondering if the 583 series would be coupled with the 485 series. Similar to the E5-E6 Hayabusa-Komachi connection

While it was rare (almost never?), 485 and 583 trains were entirely compatible with each other and could run together.  While I've only seen a few photos of full trains running as coupled sets, usually in the late JR era, slightly more often a pantograph-motor + motor pair from one series would be mixed in with a train made from the other.

Interesting. I see that the 583 Series is shorter than the 485 too huh?
