Golden Week 2020: Shinkansen Trains Empty

Recommended Posts

Seats on many Shinkansen bullet trains were said to be 90% empty as people refrain from travel during Japan’s normally busy Golden Week period amid the COVID19 pandemic.

Many Shinkansen trains not in service were lined up at a depot in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo.  (See photo in article).

Quietest Golden Week ever.

It was mightily weird walking to the convenience store just now, even though it's around midnight, particularly on a warm evening normally one is guaranteed to encounter people walking, riding bicycles or driving, but apart from a sole refuse disposal truck, no-one around.
