JNR derailment testing

Video about JNR tracking tests, where they see what is the limit that leads to derailments.  Has some fun footage both of the maya measurement car on the dynamometer, as well as a live train intentionally run away on a slope to see at what point it jumps the track.

On a related note, here's a JR Kyushu KiHa 31 test-crashing into a car.

It's surpising how actually light the railbus is, as it manages to get partly derailed by hitting the car at a low speed.

Changed from JR Hokkaido (meant to write Shikoku) KiHa 54 to the correct JR Kyushu KiHa 31

Yeah you can see how the car goes under the frame and lifts it up once compacted under the train. Funny looks like the coupler was removed.

Sure that isn't a kiha 31 from JR Kyushu?

At a higher more realistic running speed, it wouldn't lift as much, and the car would bend a lot more.
