Japanese Trains Getting More Boring to Look At?

I hear you Sean, I'm so disappointed that JR West "de-organged" the Osaka Loop Line stock; the old 201 Series with it's vivid orange colour scheme is far more interesting than the generic lines of the 323 Series that replaced it.

I fear for the 103 Series on the Nara Line too.

Currently only 2 103's left for nara line, the 6 car sets have been replaced by 201's from osaka loop line, while most 4 car 103's where replaced from 205's from hanwa line and 221's which both where replaced by new 225-5100 and 225-100.

There also is still 1 6 car 103 left for Wadamisaki Line, it's likely either this or next year all 3 103's will be retired.

Ah thanks Dentobu, it seems I'm slightly out of date! Really good to know the 201's are still in play! It's a shame the 103's are a dying breed at this point then. All for progress and newer rolling stock, but definitely a bit nostalgic for older paint jobs!

Are the 201s on the Nara Line repainted to that light green color?  I'm kinda surprised about the replacement of the 221s, although I guess they are about 30 years old now, hard to believe.
