Really planning a trip...

Hi all,

I succinctly posted this last time... but thought I'd offer it up again.

I'm heading to Japan in May and want to go to a few places... so, with Hyperdia's help, I've integrated their services but am only returning train results available to the a full JR rail pass.

With this website, you can plan trips, split them, extend the stopovers and save your planning progress.

https://modelrail.otenko.com/japantimetable/index.php

If you want an example, here's a day trip to Oigawa Railway:

https://modelrail.otenko.com/japantimetable/index.php?save=bM87eQFQrAmIj18x#

Note that when you first hit the save button, you'll get a freshly unique link... save it as a bookmark! You'll then overwrite it, so don't be sad if you lose changes.

And finally, it's constantly requesting the routes from Hyperdia, so if you refresh and the path has changed, tell me the scenario here (or post your link!)

There's no security, so if someone guesses your URL, of if you paste it here, then we can all see.

As per usual, the goal is to help one other person. If two like it, then I'm ecstatic.

Hey that's a great find! Interesting for planning indeed! Thanks for sharing!

I'm a bit puzzled by the train icons though... cause I am seeing Zero series and 300 series still in service...

Lol. It's my site, I wrote the page.

And back when I first created it, I just used appropriate icons for services.

None of them are correct.

Awesome page!! :notworthy:

I just tested it and added my first day for my trip to Japan in may.

I added the Narita Express from Narita Airport Terminal 1 to Shinagawa 16:19 on the 8th of may but your page changed it to Skyliner, Takasaki Line and Tokaido Line.

Is there a way to keep the Narita Express?

Thank you for this. I'll debug and fix tonight. I think the issue is that I'm not keeping the 1 to 5 selection from the pick list, just the first each time when I reload.

Give me a few hours today.

UPDATE: All fixed. Working nicely and now respecting your choice of 5 options!

Your website is really useful for planing a trip.

One more possible bug I found is, that I can not plan a trip using the Hayabusa shinkansen.
Can you perhaps add an option to include non-railpass shinkansen in the search?

Awesome!

I am currently adding my plans for a trip in may. Your website is perfect to visualise whole days for other people or in my case for a whole group.

Your set up looks good, but I cannot get the info. for all of Japan.

Have I missed something?

What do you mean for all of Japan? What is not working?

Sometimes you might need hyphens in names? Shin-Osaka, etc..

Wait, yes, I've pre-populated the from/to fields as an example so you can see what to enter...

I'll clear them, but you can too. Just select the fields and press backspace.
