Ooooh, that one is definitely really nice. I'm doing quite well not buying new (N-scale) rolling stock, but if that comes out as a model, I might just have to pick it up.

Yes!    I love the special livery trains.  Even a lot of my Euro trains are special livery and my small number of US Prototypes are 50% (I only have a few US prototypes that "fit" into what we see locally of UP freight).

This 223 is really nice looking.  And though I don't limit myself to a certain regional area for Japan, I tend to favor JR West areas since that is where we base ourselves when we are in Japan...  Double fit!

Thanks for posting @bill937ca

I know. I had the same reaction. One of the nicest special liveries I have seen in a while.

I dont know if this is alright or not to post the image in such a way.

I recently procured a Yamaguchi-Go C57-1 Lady from the auctions. It described "金指魔改造" which translates to Finger Demon Gold.

Is this a livery or modification? I have never read a C57 being described as such. I reallu think its a neat model nevertheless, might try to have the yellow bits gold plated

Appreciate any info pertaining to this livery/variation

From July 4, 2021, a wrapping train with the theme of "demon" has appeared. "Kihoku Town", the only local public organization in Japan that has the characters "Oni" JR Shikoku and Kihoku Town have started the operation of "Oni" wrapping trains for the purpose of promoting the appeal of the Nanyo region and promoting the use of railways. rice field. Taken at Kita-Iyo Station and Ichitsubo Station.

Shinobi and ninja are interchangeable terms.

It’s a nice livery. I could see Greenmax doing it in the next few years. They have been producing JR West painted 115.

For the last year they have been holding anniversary events at Kushiro depot to celebrate the anniversaries of 4 different JR Hokkaido lines. They repainted 2 Kiha 40-1700 (Kiha 40-1759 and Kiha 40-1766) in a JNR livery that was used on Kiha 22's operating in the area.  Some details:

These generally seem to operate on the Shintoku-Kushiro section of the Nemuro main line outside of the special event dates with a timetable available as well:

There are some pictures of the units here:

And also a video on youtube:

I guess there is a good chance that Tomix will produce these at some point. Would go nice with many of the JR Hokkaido Kiha 40's they have already produced (especially the vermillion coloured ones).

Stunning special wrapping on a JR West 223:

Why are we still waiting for Kato or Tomix to pick this UP??? There should be ROWS of 223 moulds laying around as an evergreen JR West train...  X_X

I saw this a while ago and forgot to post it: they have announced that 4 of the JR H100 series for Hokkaido will run in different wrappings for 4 different lines: Hanasaki Line, Senmo main line, Sekihoku main line and Furano line.

https://raillab.jp/news/article/28221

https://www.jrhokkaido.co.jp/CM/Info/press/pdf/220914_KO_H100.pdf

One is the same as the current Hanasaki line for the Kiha 54, the others are mostly new with a bit of inspiration from the "blessings of hokkaido" wrappings of kiha 40. They look really nice! The Senmo main line and Hanasaki line wrappings are planned to debut on October 30.

There are also plans for 4 more trains to be wrapped for the Nemuro main line, Muroran main line, Hidaka main line and Soya main line.
