Painted or Wrapped Trains in Special Liveries

They announced the K-ON wrapping last year but it's still not available for order although another wrapping is already announced... weird.

Information is yet nowhere available for this one, but the HS description mentions it will be featured on a real 600 series between this May and September.

Aaarghhh the 600 series is too much for me, I fell in love with it already years back and they just keep making special versions of it.

Painted Trains weekend!

As I was trying hard to access the forum over the weekend, I could now share with you guys some pictures and videos of the painted trains that Tomytec has beautifully made and recently released.

Roster includes:

1) Shimanekko train! I could place an interior light tube into the motor car, and that got me excited. Until I realised that the 2nd car doesn't have any pickup so it's impossible to light that one up, and it looks really weird with just one car interior lighted...

Here' a video:

2) Tarumi Railway! This 2-car Tomytec set looks great! I like the painting on the orange one more, especially the side with the Kabuki, very traditional! The pink one looks good too, i'm guessing Maleia is a shopping mall?

3) Motorised my Fuji Tozandensha. This train is beautiful! I was attracted by it's reddish-brown painted look, very classic and classy.

Here's a video:

Gonna add in some actual sounds to get the train moving off in style soon!

Hope you guys enjoy the pictures/ videos!

The red actually looks really nice on the Rapi:t .. That's a definite must-order should MicroAce decide to do a run of it.

Besides that the two cars have a rather large gap between them (which means you didn't add the short couplers), you can route wires from the motor unit to the trailer through the open doors and have both cars lighted. Then it would look great!

Oh man! Gotta have this! I'm kinda like you Krackel Hopper, i'm also in the midst of changing my fleet to Tomix for the all wheel pickup which I really like... And this had to come along so... oh well... Gotta bite the bullet cause I love the Suica penguin!

It's ok Jeff, I know how you feel. I spent the usual on the Zipangu and Rillakuma only to see them being release for super sale at 50% off during the recent HS sale. Then there were those who paid premium to get the E655 and Emperor Carriage only to see Kato releasing it again.

Then there are those instances whereby you see a train, don't get it, and see it disappear forever, like my case for the E926 East i...

It's kinda a luck game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose a little. But you get to admire the model way before others can!

Speaking of which, here is a really nice (and slow-moving) well-done video of the Kato E2 Suica set. Very nice cartoons!

and here's a video of the actual train:

I really like the 15th Anniversary logo!

Not exactly sure what is going on with this. I asked Nariichi-san if ModelTrainPlus will pre-order and he is unaware of Kato doing a full release of this train. He was going to ask his distributer about it. Hopefully I can order through them, if not, hopefully HobbySearch still has reservations available!

Me too, awaiting reply from other suppliers to see if it is also available to them. HS still has open reservations till now but wouldn't know how long that would last though... It's a very nice train to collect and keep, so now for me it's up to luck to see if other supplier has it and whether HS still has reservations open then...

On other note, I was highlighted by Mr Keitaro from loco1 regarding these trains, the Nishikigawa. They look fantastic!

Here's the official website: http://nishikigawa.com/rolling.php

Question is, why wasn't there models made for them? They do look very good and colours are very striking. I checked on HS and only these were found:

http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=104&scope=0&scope2=0&itkey=nishikigawa

Only for HO scale, and in an un-built type model without motor....

It surprises me that Kato lately is heading to a very strange direction with all those special trains varying from maintenance trains, 1-car trains from small private companies and now even special livery trains.

It captures the niche market very well.  Can be very profitable or very risky.  Kato can do it well though, so no fear. :)

Amazing! Someone stuck some beautiful pictures onto this 223!

This is not as nice in terms of the finishes (around the corners) and I guess the train itself looks weird, but still:

And I remember seeing this train in actual picture sometime ago:

Man the Japanese are talented!
