fun rr daughters 2 car set, but ouch at $85 for 2 cars w/o a motor...

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10244877

looks like a pretty straightforward assembly kit, all prepainted.

and the irony is that as far as I know there is no 'regular' alpico kotsu train available.  hopefully one is coming.  i'd gladly buy a pre-made 2-car set from GM (w motor/lights), even though one knows the price is not going to be pretty.

Heads up people!

Received news from Nartak san from Modeltrainplus Tomytec is re-releasing the Tama Train (YES THAT Tomytec Tama Train) and the Ichigo (Strawberry) train in July this year... HS has also reflected this on their site:

Tama Train

Ichigo (Strawberry)Train

Those who missed the previous ones and really like them (I know I do!) pre-order yours now at your favourite retailer!

* Seems like this year has nice surprises like the Kato E655 + Imperial car re-release and now the Tama & Ichigo train re-release. Nice! *

Can anyone point me in the direction of a picture of the Strawberry train?

I'll order the Tama train just need to know if I want to order both.

Sure! Here's a picture link using Yahoo Auctions:

http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/182651301

And here's a video of the actual train:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wRaNHDav_E

The interior is cute! But of course we can't expect to see that in the model...

And a N Scale video perhaps?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO5Ve9bcybM

This is nice. It featured all 3 Tomytec 鉄道コレクション和歌山電鐵2270系, おもちゃ電車・いちご電車・たま電車 (Omocha, Ichigo and Tama) train to date

My recommendation is to get both... In fact, i'm even thinking of getting the Omocha just to complete the series for fun! Luckily, they're Tomytec railway models so they aren't so expensive...

*Side note - I made a search on Yahoo Auctions sometime back and the pricing of these models, new or used, are frightening. Upon checking today, I suddenly discovered the prices dropped a lot.. probably due to the news of the re-release...*

Sounds like it's not just for those who missed out. Apparently it had some small paint job modifications.

Thanks! Missed that out. HHmmm... no pictures, so wondering what is means.. paint reflecting the image of a hat'? No description of Ichigo train, so I think it'll be the same model... It's really strange, now if one would to search for either of them on Yahoo Auctions, the prices have dropped rapidly (also suddenly there seems to be more people listing them) so my guess is upon the news of the re-release from Tomytec, those that were holding onto them and hoping to sell them for a good profit are now quickly getting rid of them for much lesser profits before the new re-release stocks hit the shelves.

Also, the motorized parts will be updated too:

TM-05R (17m class A), running for parts set to TT-04R, pantograph recommends PT4811N the [0258] The power unit of selling parts to both products together.

The prototype has cat ears on the roof now and the first cooler unit has been painted so it looks like the stationmaster hat of the famous cat. (and to think they made her stationmaster because there was no money to staff the station, so someone just said that this cat is always sitting there so lets make her the station master)

A few pictures with the updated look:

(and this is't the first time that a train has cat ears in Japan)

Thanks for the clarification kvp¬ Now that makes sense now with a picture to it. By the way it looks really cute this way¬¬  Does it have them on both ends since the train might travel in both directions?

Yahoo Auctions on Tama train today (a few more last night around 2500yen but I guess they were quickly snapped up) :

And the Ichigo train:

The other end might be decorated like the back end of a cat. :booty:

Since the train is made out of two cars, coupled back to back, this might be true. They could even decorate the emu cables with the spotty fur pattern. :)

On the other hand, a totally cat-astrophic train design (luckily it's only a cable car):

Cable cars of the Kintetsu Ikoma Cable Line in Ikoma, Nara, Japan. Belive it or not I have often wished they would make a model of this and “Mike” and a dog-faced cable car. Would look great as a B-Train or Plarail model :grin

Was that a kid in the background or do they actually bark and meow at each other as they pass like the real ones do?

The other car on the lower section of the line is a dog. On the upper section one is decorated like a cake and the other has a musical theme.

As promised in another thread, here are some more pictures of the lovely 'Kotochan Hyaku' densha I recently received. Those beautiful porpoises are really really cute!

Definitely claimed my 'favourite train' spot now!

The lovely VHS cover is also just adorable!

Installed illumi interior lights in it and made a short video of it in the dark. Nice!

Kotoden!! Had I not chosen to focus on JR Shikoku, I probably would have focused on Kotoden (also on Shikoku). Tomytec produces almost all their trains in the railway collection. This set is a bit expensive though.

Btw, your video is set to private.

Kotoden is a Shikoku train? Oh dear... Un-knowingly I've stepped into Shikoku region... Promised myself to stay on the main land; i.e. no Hokkaido, Kyushu nor Shikoku but....

Thanks Densha! Forgot the setting... It should work now...
