Author Debra Brill has established that Brill was notorious for not protecting its patents in foreign markets.

It would have been very difficult to do otherwise in the days before improved telecommunications (fax/telex/Internet) and more importantly, jet liners. The fees a patent lawyer would have charged for shuttling backwards and forwards across the USA by train and then across the Pacific by ship while arguing a patent infringement case would have been nothing short of staggering...

New posters here as well. New German Tatra trams! Toyota SORA buses come with a BM-04 power unit.

Oh no, somebody heard me saying I'd wish for a Dresden Tram... now that this here (even if "just" the old GDR style, not the modernized version), I'll have to really consider getting one.

I missed out on the Berlin tram and now I regret it. Its pricey though.

It's, but it's morized and has a non-static pantograph. Only thing missing are the directional lights.

Just spotted the new paper structures shown in the poster over on 1999.  Interesting looking, they use stackable clear plastic boxes on the inside for window and support.

In the group photo of the buildings, they are shown with a lot of roof greeblies that are not shown in any of the individual kits.  Here's hoping they release the greebly pack!

Those very ones, missed them when they came out!  Wishlisted now.

Rooftop details really make the scene for most railway operating viewing angles.

I completely missed those rooftop details as well! I think it’s a sign I have too many trains now and don’t watch stuff as closely as I use to…

very nice additions to almost all buildings.

They look like prisons to me. Cheap, cheap.

yeah I’ve  got to agree they do have a bit of a prison feel and a bit cheap. Interesting with the plastic box core design to try to give some depth. But from a distance with a number of buildings not horrible.

And for a beginner it’s less than $10/building for some taller buildings that are usually much more expensive. But I wonder if they may be pricy to ship if bigger and flatter.

Yes, the boxes are purchased separately.

The look is in the right ballpark for the Terrace Inn at Katsuta station.   I've got an Outland kit earmarked to kitbash for this, but have been keeping an eye open for other alternatives for either the Inn or the other tall building across the street.  We've got a spot open for one of them.

Looks like these buildings could also do a good job in 2D form, if cut apart with the walls attached to a backdrop.

I don't think you really need the boxes. Any kind of windowed packaging material will supply clear plastic sheet to glaze the windows with, and strengthening the buildings can be done by bracing the inside with scrap card (packaging again) and wood (disposable chopstocks etc).

Yeah I was wondering why they didn’t go that route of just some clear acetate strips on the inside for the windows and some rectangles with folded up edges to put in a few floors (or even all other floors just stacked with window areas cut out of folded edges) for internal bracing.

the plastic boxes are simple bus seem a tad clunky and flat floors easier to ship with folded wall sections.

I think the main point here is to get use for spare boxes people get when buying single trains, not to have super cool buildings.

New Tomytec farm house with interiors details is out for preorder. But yikes bit over $100?! While some nice internal details I can’t see $100 worth. The interior details are nothing that spectacular that could not be added to a regular Tomytec farmhouse structure if desired. Im bummed.

Wow, that's quite a price point!

I at least am marked safe from that one.  While Roxanne would absolutely love the tiny dollhouse, she too would recoil at the price tag.  Whew.

Roxanne would probably enjoy micro minis, 1/144 scale dollhouse scenes. Basically a 1/12 scale doll house for a 1/12 scale doll house. A friend Fran does som super interiors at 1/144, she goes into excruciating detail! Like making her own 1/144 scale bricks to pave a floor or a Williamstown kitchen scene from 18th century!

Wow, that's beautiful work!

Some years ago we had contemplated something similar for a seasonal outdoor garden railroad we could bring out — using N guage for a G scale garden with 1/12 dolls and garden furniture.  Got thwarted once we realised there was no N scale track that would hold up to that much direct sunlight, and we weren't going to handlay.
