Micro Ace is going to offer a Ichi-Go, or the First, Locomotive A1 Class and 4 Passenger Cars (Contained in a Wooden Box) set.  This may interest the steam engine  collectors as this train is described as the "Ichi-Go Kikansha", literally "the first locomotive", and  was imported from Britain in 1872 for the start of the railway service in Japan.  It ran between Shinbashi and Yokohama.

The locomotive is pretty much exactly what I wanted for my Ghibli modules, but I was planning on having it pull a couple of freight cars. I've got Kiha01, Kiha02 and Kiha03 to do the passenger service on those modules.

Then again, the Ichi-go might be a bit too old fashioned to fit in with the rest.... I'll probably end up buying it anyway ;)

Martijn - If you purchase it, would you put a decoder in it? That looks like it would be a challenge with this steam engine.

I'm planning on making all my trains digital, so this one would get a decoder as well yes. Judging by the pictures, it looks like there might be some space above the motor inside the cabin.
