well we are off! Here are shots of the car at the JRM annual meeting. Nice setting on one of our club members fantastic set of Japanese Ttrak modules.

The car is off to Kiha in California where it will travel around CA for a while and then around other places in the US before heading over the pond to Europe, then off to Asia. Please yell to Paul if you are interested in participating and he will work you into the travels. We are trying to keep things in country as long as possible to keep shipping costs and times low for folks. The package includes a set of decals for each stop to make their own pair of containers if they would like to have their own. Also quarter sheets of paper to write a note and date your stop. It would be great to get a few picts from each stop on layout and someplace interesting locally if you want to show the location. Paul is also starting a video channel on Youtube for folks to upload a video if you want. Contact Paul to email him your video.

That's really cool! Thanks guys! Great to finally see some faces that were behind computer screens!  🙂 (although a little note on who is who would be great! I only recognise Jeff...   😛

By the way, your loco has derailed and have its rear wheel sliding out of the tracks ....  😛

An auspicious start to the tour!  😄

Hopefully a stop to Perth and other Australian points of interest will be considered.  Looks like a fun tour.

The car made a run tonight on the "Carbondale Local" here on the Belmont Shore Club's layout.  Lots of fun explaining to everyone what was going on with the world tour, what a great way to get people excited about the hobby.

The JNS World Tour Car is currently in San Francisco, I hope to have it run at the Crocket Club and also on one of my super spectacular temporary setups in the coming week.  🙂 It's now posing with my SF Giants Manny Pacquiao bobblehead who just happened to be boxing today or tonight, what a coincidence.

I did my best to create an era appropriate  set up for the World Tour Car.  My Green Valley in the mid showa era according to Kiha66.

Great setup Junior!  Its funny how those tiny containers start to seem big compared to the tank cars or C12 behind them.

Arrived today.   I have not yet opened.  I will be filming the opening "unboxing" style and then setting up some kitchen table track and stuff for both video and stills.   Saturday afternoon, between morning and evening sessions of the Utah State Long Course Swim Championships (my son is swimming an individual and in a relay on Saturday) will be the time for me to take over the kitchen.   And then late into the night.   (When I set up for photography and video I take over the kitchen and the wife is not very happy  😂 so I do a long all day and night session 🙂 )

The tour continues!

So I did not get a full photo and video session done this weekend.  I did open the World Tour, and a few other unboxing videos I've needed to do.  I did not have time to set up for still photos the right way (remote flashes, umbrellas, a background, all the correct camera settings etc.) but I shot some stills using video lights and long exposures and a quick setup of a few buildings and a station as props...    Due to how they were taken they look a little washed out etc.

Also some Utah specific shots to "prove" it was here.  (And if you look on Twitter you might see another shot as my model train pic of the day 🙂  )

I will set up this week one evening to do some video of the car with a better table top setup, and hopefully some better stills 🙂  And then get it on its way.

I had ideas about taking the car some SF landmarks but was a busy time when the car arrived. Good stuff Chad.

Just FYI:  My "landmarks" are just photos grabbed off the internet and set up behind my track on my kitchen table 🙂 .  They are mainly just to represent "Utah" as a whole as a stop in the journey.

But they are of real places in Utah that I have been to.  (But not the car, though the city skyline one is close enough to where I live).

A good example of what it’s all about here chad, especially for those without an actual layout👍👍😀

What, you didn’t take it to Arches National Park! I knew that but I like your idea of having it pictured with places that represents Utah. I guess my SF Giants bobbleheads was close enough.

KoMu-san and I went sightseeing around Colorado Springs today.  It was a little cool, cloudy, and windy, but we were on a mission.

The first stop was Garden of the Gods.  KoMu-san in focus, the scenery - not so much.

Another stop in Garden of the Gods.  Pikes Peak in the background among the clouds.

KoMu-san wanted to see one of the Pikes Peak Cog Railway steam locomotives on display in the park in Manitou Springs.

Next stop - The North Pole - not as far from Colorado Springs as you would think.  KoMu-san is barely visible below the F in FOR.

There, we went train-spotting.  KoMu-san was nearly taken out by the cow catcher in his enthusiasm to get extra close.

Then, back down the hill to the remnants of the 1887 Colorado Midland roundhouse.  There is a brewery out of picture to the left.

Finally, we stopped downtown to see the commemorative display to Colorado Springs' sister city in Japan, Fujiyoshida.  KoMu-san is barely visible here too.

We headed back home for some sushi and sake.  (No comments on the quality of my sake.  This bottle was in the fridge - partially used for cooking.)
