Construction work underway shoring up the incline; here a protruding section is being added which will provide space for a signal, and other plausible-looking lineside gubbins.

And a random bonus shot, cunningly hiding the under -construction bits:

Embankment outcropping all faced up, with signal temporarily placed for effect:

(no doubt the driver is cursing the "caution" aspect while ascending this relatively steep incline).

Checking for clearance on the bridge below:

Wow it's nice to see the progress building up here squid! The rust pen really seems to work pretty well... I would need to get started on mine... What is the ballast you are using may I ask? It looks pretty realistic!

I'm not quite comfortable with the height clearance though, being a bus driver and all ~  😛

The coarser ballast is Tomytec.

Methinks I should add a bit more clearance before too many vehicles get stuck under there.

The reason I kept that bridge low, I recall, was structural - it's a weak point and while making it the whole embankment structure may have snapped if the bridge "ceiling" had been too thin. Now the track is fixed in place I can safely remove another 5mm layer.

Glue drying...

Hopefully it raises the clearance a bit more... That height is pretty nerve-wrecking for bus drivers ~  😞

Not that it's a route suitable for buses anyway.

Nonsense. In Japan they will get a bus through any narrow passageway.

Any bus or other long vehicle passing under that bridge will soon find itself in this tricky situation:

It's possible it can be resolved by a couple of spry elderly men with whistles and illuminated batons, but the cost of permanently stationing a small team there would outweigh the benefits of that particular route.
