Kato Jewel Case/Booklet replacement foam?

Does anyone know what kind of foam is used by Kato for their jewel cases and books?

I'd like to make some custom inserts for non-rolling stock item storage.

The material is called "Urethane" from what I've read so far.

You can also get some custom premade ones for specific car types, mostly made by Casco:

Looks like you're right on the money- I'm thinking to pick up a small size hot knife foam cutter and giving it a go.

Also nice tip about someone already doing this for existing set types.

I wonder if a laser cutter would be viable as well?

Defor,

ive found a jewelers Saw works the best to make cutouts in foam. It’s very clean and controllable. For larger piece you just need a deep throat saw and the fine rasp blades. Hot knife does not do well on foam like this as it makes hard melted surface at the cut and will scratch your car’s. I fear a laser cutter will do the same.

for larger stuff nice sharp steak knives with the serrated edges work  I used to make a lot of larger case linings for video gear and electronic equipment and it worked well.

cheers
