Hobbytrain Duwag 6 Tram

Every once in a while a different tram comes along.  I have heard of the Lemke Hobbytrain Duwag 6 but never found it available for purchase.  Well it is here now.

Video by Lemke Collection.

I have found six versions of this tram, three are analog and the other three have digital sound.

14901 Bogestra grey/red/yellow

14902 Mulheim/Ruhr grey/yellow

14903 Numberger red/white

14901S Bogestra grey/red/yellow with sound

14902S Mulheim/Ruhr grey/yellow with sound

14903S Numberger red/white with sound

One German language dealer review I found online mentioned the tram ran fast and upon opening the tram they found the red connection to the trailing truck was broken off.

Another German language review which is more positive.

It is available from at least three European dealers, all of which I have ordered from before and have been discussed in the past on JNS.  One word--prices are generally dearer than Japanese models.  But if you want something different....

Hi Bill,

There is also an M8 version (3-section). The best prices I have found (from the U.S.) are EuroLokShop (www.tee-usa.com) and sometimes dm-toys in Germany.

I have a few of these, and they are both great and not-so-great. They are nice models, and even have illuminated destination signs with that modern lime-yellow look. The not-so-great side is that they have eight micro-thin jumper wires connecting the circuit boards on top of the two half-chassis. The thinness of these wires, and the narrow circuit board traces they seem to be machine-soldered to, make them impossible for me to re-solder when they break  - and they do break. I am a pretty good solderer, having done lots of soldering of delicate mid-air overhead trolley wire in larger scales.  When one of these models, which are produced in South Korea, has these wires break, you end up with an expensive piece of rolling track side-tracked.

Thanks for the info Rich.  I think I will cross this one off my list.  The Japanese stuff is just so reliable anyways.

Thanks for the info on the reliability. I was thinking of getting one of these because I've seen them in Germany (not been on them) and they run on some very nice lines.
