Plenty of non-flickering leds from HKTILC.com for my Kato & Tomix trains.

This was really quick despite I choosed the slower mode. Roughly 1,5 week ! I did not expect such a rushing order.

Got some Rhätische Bahn KATO stuff.  Some is re-issue I think and some is the newer stuff, including the rfecently released containers.  Got it from RGR.  He had the re-release stuff in stock earlier this year and after I paid he held it for the pre-order stuff to come in.

This is added to my Glacier Express and other GE4/4II and Ge4/4-III and EW I and other stuff I already have.

Oh, I need to learn more about these!
I saw that the standard ones do flicker a lot. And while that looks cool on 3rd rail DC stock, it's not as cool on more modern stock.

HKTILC produces Popondetta's lights. They cannot sell in Japan but you can buy their lights directly from their shop. They have a range of lights with capacitors that do not flicker; or at least not very often, your trackwork needs to be really crap for it to happen. They are based in HK.

Where do you get an N-scale Trabant?

In 1990 I went into E Berlin for a day.  This was after the "wall fell" but while there was still East Germany.   I saw this one street side parking area (45 deg parking) that had a row of around a dozen Trabants and a US Army plated (private serviceman's car, not official)  Ford Escort.  The Escort looked huge compared to the Trabis.  And was a marked testament to the failure of the E German state to get out of the 50s.   I also saw one in Munich in late 91 or 92 as a Taxi -- painted the Taxi ivory color.  I was wondering why someone would want to take a Trabi as a taxi when you get a Mercedes for the same cost.  Of course, the driver was probably a sole proprietor owner trying his best to make a buck.

DM Toys: https://www.dm-toys.de/en/list/search/trabant.html

A trifle expensive, but a nice quality model and worth it for the atmosphere.

They were still very widespread in East Berlin in the early 90s.

Not sure how a sole Trabbi would have made it to Munich... There were certainly a few Wartburgs in Berlin in use as taxis, was a bit odd seeing them in the row of Mercedes lined up outside Bhf Zoo, and some Volkspolizei Ladas made it into "western" police livery.

Did you pay a visit to one of the Berlin hobby store?

Sorry @disturbman I wasn't able to.

If I didn't make that mistake when ordering my ticket from Paris to Berlin, I would've had more than enough time in Berlin to relax and look around.

Innotrans was an absolute rush.

Guess I'll leave that for another opportunity. A DB V 160 would be of good use. 😁

not including three secondhand wagons, one of which needs repainting after some paint came off during glue blob removal.

Also came away with a hoard of DVDs, magazines, a new book and two old New Zealand Railways binders containing Working Timetables and Rules and Regulations from the early 1990s and early-mid 2000s respectively. But they don’t fit in this thread, so...

Ouigo and a "little bunch" of spare parts 😋

(enough for build 10 complete TGV motorized chassis for Lima shell transplanting and for upgrade the rest of my Kato fleet with new improved pantos)

thanks Nariichi !!! 🤩

TGVspareparts.thumb.jpg.bfa9b0aa8deaa5a30c1267efa39b9337.jpg

and obviously with my luck... I waited the Ouigo and the new Lyria release for a big spare parts orders, and ... surprise! the single cars shell aren't available like spares contrary to the past, so all my work for the V150 decals can be put on the bin (or I need to find some Duplex junk 😒...)

and.. why not?

another strange item for insane people like me 🤪

a diecast model in N scale (probably it was an advertising object from Alsthom like the NTV .Italo that I bought in the past)

just to decide if start from Fleischmann/Minitrix junk model or Del Prado/CIL plastic chassis, much simple to cut & paste 🤔 ......

Not exactly ordered, but bought second-hand from someone who switched from N to HO.

The manufacturing labels tell these coaches might as well be older than me... 😮

I already cleaned the wheels and got continuity on the coach with lighting installed.

Later tonight I'll wash the coaches, lubricate the axle bearings and assess some of the damage that might need some 3D printing spares.

Good deal.  I'd take them.  I've bought a bunch of similar (older) wagons from eBay and similar for a good portion of my DB passenger wagons.

I've added a Model Power 1339 n scale Park Scenes for detail around my little tram layout. Mostly for the seated figures.

The German Reichsbahn BR06 4-8-4 heavy passenger locomotive. Produced exclusively for the Märklin Insider Club, it comes with all the bells and whistles (literally!), speed-dependent synchronized smoke plus plenty of extra details and optional front skirting for those who run wider radius curves. I don't plan to install the skirting on mine as I run both R360 curves on the inner oval of my layout and short switches across the whole layout, which means I also need to remove the ash pan doors from the firebox as they limit the swing of the rear bogie wheels.

Can’t have enough Amtrak P42’s. I’m really liking the new Ph VI paint scheme. Waiting for the Operation Lifesaver scheme and I should be good and on to the ALC-42’s.

A pre-owned Bachmann Shay, which doesn't appear to have ever been run. My club is sponsoring individual members to build some Freemo modules, and this will be the signature motive power for my module.

It will be reworked to look similar to this one:

Cheers,

Aha, Commonwealth Oil No. 2! Which part of the Wolgan Valley Railway are you planning to model, Mark? I've got an article in an old back issue of Australian Model Railway Magazine stashed in the garage about one guy's modules recreating part of that line. Quite informative, though I've not managed to digest all of the details since I brought that copy from the ARHS Bookshop back in (checks photos quickly) February 2018...

Back at the ED Depot, more new trains have shown up! Or, really a couple of new ones and a few second-handers...

This little lot came in from Zenmarket earlier this month. An almost mint Märklin 4919 bausatz sliding roof gondola kit, unassembled but minus instructions; a 4677 Württemberg beer wagon with rusty handrails which were receiving some attention; and a gondola wagon from a 29151 Digital starter set released in 2008, runs nicely with my other Era IV wagons but has some... interesting white speckles on the wheels which I've never seen before. They don't affect the running of the wagon so far, so I'm not worried.

And then, on Thursday I came down with the coronavirus, just in time for two more parcels of Märklin stock to arrive!

IMG_6685.thumb.JPG.5218f4b8215e71873b3094bbb2852e72.JPG

And here are the contents of said packages! From top:

- 2001 Museum car - Württemberg flat car loaded with a printing press

- 1991 Museum car - Württemberg wine barrel wagon "August Pflüger" with delivery truck

- 39498 Class 498.1 Steam Locomotive "498.104"

- 46057 Coal Wagon

- 2000 Museum car - Württemberg hopper wagon "Leonhard Weiss" and tip lorry

The Museum wagons all came from the firm of Ritter Restorationen in Germany and were just 19,00 Euro apiece, not a bad price. However, they were very slow in arriving via Deutsche Post Paket - these wagons left Germany at the start of November and didn't arrive until today! They did arrive largely intact though, and the only damage to one wagon (a broken support on the hopper) can be easily fixed with a bit of Tamiya cement. For those not aware, Märklin has produced a unique goods wagon every year since 1985 that is only available* through the company's Museum in Göppingen; the vast majority have been based on local (i.e. Württemberg and Baden-Württemberg) prototypes.**

The 498.1 and coal wagon on the other hand came up yesterday on overnight service via Aramex couriers, which is astonishingly good service. The locomotive itself is based on the preserved 498.104 as based in Bratislava and operated by the Albatros Club. It was this year's "Surprise Locomotive" which is Märklin's way of introducing either a new 'unusual' locomotive from Germany, or as has been more often the case in recent years, a new 'foreign', i.e. European, locomotive. Like my BR06, it has the new 'dynamic smoke' unit, which, if the performance of my 06 is anything to go by, is powerful - in both effect and potency of smell! The coal wagon, of course, is just extra stuffing for my coal train which now stretches to twelve wagons and was timed just well enough to ride up with the big engine.

I'm hoping that on Thursday I will test negative and be allowed out of my room to play with my new toys. So far I'm in good spirits and doing reasonably well, so I'm confident that I'll be back up to full steam before long!

Alastair

* Actually, some retailers have gotten hold of these wagons in the past - I've previously brought three from Japan and one from Toottoot, all brand new.

** The 1986-88 wagons had Württemberg markings but also promotional "Märklin Museum" lettering and imagery which didn't tie in with any historical period.

I have never been a particular fan of the "creased" design, on the other hand it was on sale at DM Toys while I was ordering some scenic bits, and tragically the internet informed me it has previously been sighted in the Berlin area, so here we are.
