A member asked me to post some pictures of my BR (UK) layout. I'll add pics here as and when I have time. Here are three I had on file to get started. You might recognize the barge....

Two pics of my coastal scene I had on file, taken before I had the back scene up.

That freight must be the "Ark" train - removing freight cars for protection against the ever-rising sea levels   ;-)

Can you provide an "overview" of the layout?  Size?  Double track loop with shunting area?  I like the individual elements, just wondering how they all tie together.

Nick,

I just put together a quick sketch (not to scale to give you the general idea. It's basically a dogbone design, to keep the electrics simple there is no connection between up and down lines in the station. DC with blocks and one controller.

A few more from last Sunday. You might have noticed that I'm a big fan of Scalescenes printable paper kits and papers,

Looks great!  If you don't mind me asking, any chance of some "overview" shots?  Nice to see how scenes flow as well as more detailed shots.

Thanks!

Nick

Not much modelling time during the summer. I concentrated on completing the detailing in the industrial area to the east of the canal. Buildings are now fixed in place. The pipelines are from Tomix. Pipe racks are made from card. Also an overview shot for Nick. The story is that the tracks on the right are the station avoiding tracks. Those on the left go through the station. The loop between them is longer than my longest train. The industrial track which enters the factory to the right is long enough to hold an engine and two waggons which can then be placed on the track to the left. Entrance to the site is from the left via a bridge under the bridge.

It's been a while since I posted something here. Progress around the station and a pub has appeared near the dock area. The pub is a Metcalfe kit altered to fit the space with Scalescenes roof.

Ian, nice layering of the levels on this. The vertical aspect has packed a lot more into a small space!

cheers

More progress, after building a few scalescenes boats and harbour.  Still need to add some figures and clutter on the dockside, and make the rigging for the boat.

That's the new T030d Small Fishing Boat, isn't it?

Man, you're fast!

It's time I posted something here again!

People who follow my Japanese layout thread will know I moved house and so had to cut my layouts up in manageable sections and fit them together again. So basically getting back to where I was took quite some time. Now finally I have some new progress to show. A new housing estate has appeared behind the access track to the industrial area (see older posts). I edited some scalescenes downloadable files to be allow me to increase the depth of the flats as required. I also needed to find a new place for the arches with the workshops. It's easier to detail these areas at the rea r of the layout as I now have access from behind. That's the reason there is no backscene her yet.

Ian,

that is really superb, I love the way the line meanders along giving it a lot of character.

The scale scenes building also look good and avoid the dreaded white edges of the Metcalfe ones.

Thanks for the kind comments.

A bit more progress behind the station. This is the same low level track that passes behind the station and then continues past the council flats to the harbour area.

Due to the house move I had to reposition the arches from the front of the station (as seen on earlier photos) to the rear.

After some ballasting work around the shed and wiring up the points, it was time for some lockdown trainspotting. Nothing better than taking photos to find areas which still need some work.
