This is the new terminus for the tram line. Apparently the shrine on the island is very popular and needed better access than just by boat. Not sure what colour to paint the bridge.

I never tire of these images

For the bridge I suggest vermillon

I agree completely!  Really enjoying your pictures.  The bridge at Nikko is vermillion and it looks great - as well as providing a nice contrast to the other colors around the scene.

While I'm thinking how I can actually make a bridge like this that can stand up to close-up photography I've started developing a different section. See page 2 of this thread for pictures of the initial construction of this tram terminus and the small depot. You'll notice the surrounds have changed quite a bit.

Pics like this are great to see where more work is required. Somehow the tree trunk is still too shiny and needs a second layer of dull coat.

Thanks, I happened to see this too. It may be suitable.

As it's been some time here a few pics of some new developments.

I've been away from modelling for quite a while due to a lack of inspiration. The last few weekends I test runned all rolling stock on my UK and Japan layouts and got a few dodgy points working again. I'll continue adding details to my expanded loco depot area. Here are a few pics.

Put up some buildings to hide the shinkansen return loop. And I started the first platform for the suburban station behind the depot.

I usually replace any rapido couplers with kato 11-702 couplers. I now discovered GM 8056 short couplers which look even better and still enable the trains to get round the tight bends and points in my fiddle yard. See pics. Too bad I only bought one pack... which have now all been used for my container train.

It's a good idea to get an assortment anyway, the short shanks do not fit every type of wagons and it's better to use the medium shanks on some. Notably on 2-axle freight cars when the coupler box is slightly recessed or there are details on the body.

I've been revamping the bridges and adding details. Apparently the fishermen were seen to be handing mochi to the children in return for them chasing all the fish in their direction. Looks like they're having a field day.

As you may know the piers are card with paper wraps (textures.com). The plastic items rely on a nifty paint job. If it doesn't look right a cotton bud with isopropanol alcohol will give you a new chance. Taking a lot of photos from all angles helps to decide if it looks right. Colouring the flywheel of the tomytec tram with a black permanent marker also drastically improved its appearance.

I've also been working on improvements to the tram terminus using some greenmax parts. Spot my wife taking her time selecting a drink from the vending machine.😄
