Road Markings Dimensions

Recommended Posts

There is a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism document online which gives dimensions for road markings. This document is divided into Regulatory Markings and Indication Markings.  This document translates with Google Translate in Google Chrome.

Regulatory markings: https://www.mlit.go.jp/road/sign/kijyun/kukaku/bpkukaku06.html

Indication markings:   https://www.mlit.go.jp/road/sign/kijyun/kukaku/bpkukaku06.html

Some road markings are used in connection with another road marking.  For instance diamonds indicate that there is a pedestrian crossing ahead.

Sign dimensions are also included in this document.
