Paul, did you just hide leds into the buildings? Do you have the interiors finished or just empty with some lighting? I like the colors, it's coming along well.

Hi Chuo,

just warm white LED s in the Buildings with coloured plastic for the windows.

there s no interiors to them at the moment, using the coloured plastic was an attempt to try and hide the interiors slightly.I may get around to doing the interiors one day😂😂

With the new module being done I have turned my attention back to my original Japanese module set.  Specifically the left end where there was still a bit of undeveloped space.  I have been just loosely placing buildings for shows and then storing them in boxes.  Within the past couple days I have anchored several building and am developing the scenes around them.  I had been given a pair of TomyTec commerical building kits that I really like which are seen in the foreground in this photo and pair of houses on the left.  Those are all anchored and a park scene is being built to got in that empty space in the back.

At the left edge of the module I have had one of those Tomix condo buildings bolted down but not painted.  I am now taking it apart for painting and have already done the base as shown in this photo. I carved some expansion joints into the sidewalk before painting the base a concrete color.  Then did the parking area in a asphalt color and added some scenery material into all the planter areas.  The gate was made from the Greenmax fence set with the lamps added from a TomyTec festival figure set.

Am deep into finishing the Tomix condo building.   The building was taken apart, painted and put back together and weathered a bit.  Now I am working on adding some details and little scenes to the building itself and in the immediate area of the building.   I know I am making quite a mess but I really enjoy this part of the hobby.

I love these apartments as it’s so easy to pop them apart and do apartment scenes and interesting scenes on the balconies. Plus you can combine more than one to make them custom heights.

Your wiring is so much like mine - and it works!  I wish I had labeled all of the ends of my wiring as it would make things easier to troubleshoot when things get dislodged.  Unfortunately I lack the patience to do the fine detail stuff that you are doing - but you are giving me inspiration - keep up the good work!

More trees!

This is another 60 saplings ($12.95 including shipping!) with brown trunks, which I’m thinking of as rowans because I am not remotely a tree person.

I still have another pack of 60 to plant (with white trunks, which I think of as birches). I didn’t plant those because these are all towards the back of the layout and my back started complaining.

Managed to salvage 3 of the 4 platforms at least to a useable state and need 3 pieces to finish the last one,a few strategically placed figures in due course should just about make them acceptable.

The lights do nt glare as badly as the pics would suggest though I have ordered a dimmer unit to see if I can tone them down a bit.

So far all my lights have been wired directly to the power supplies but I think it’s time that I connected them to the switch box I made last year.

so I ve wired in a center control board and now just need to connect to the switches which are already wired in then connect the lights to the connectors on the board.

Paul,

how well do these press fit terminals work? I got a few thinking to use them for situations I want to pop multiple wires into a feeder quickly, but wasn’t sure how well they would hold up.

Hi Jeff,

i ve Found them ok mate, makes life a lot easier when wiring underneath the boards.Once the wires are locked In properly it takes a fair old tug to dislodge them and at a few pence each they re cheap enough mate.

worth a try imho buddy👍👍

Assembled a rather fiddly little signal box kit. Happily, everything is in place, the final product looks cute, and I even have leftover supplies in the form of window glass and fencing. 687B0670-9E5A-4EA2-9B24-1956F240D0C2.thumb.jpeg.3d0cd2a73249ccf267abb31c8085df12.jpeg

That looks great Tim!  Does it come prepainted too?

Yeah, those are the colors it comes in. The tops of the fence posts and the roof (top and ends) are painted

Time to evacuate the freight trains (and Shiki Shima) from the station area so I can work on it!

There is a signal box to install.

And here it is after a little digging, some foundation work, and a first layer of ballast.

I will add more ballast when the glue is dry. But for now it looks very nice.
