Japanese club in Berlin?

Hah, I wish. Regular Modelrailroad Club, no one there is into Japanese Trains much. Although they do let me run mine on the club layout, and they do find them interesting, so they not against it at all.

Are you painting the catenaries? Good idea. They do look a bit plasticy unpainted.

Yeah, it's been on the to-do list for years, and I've finally worked up the energy to fiddle about with paints and stuff again.

BTW one of the things I painted is the grey storage/equipment box thing underneath the walkway in the centre of the picture:

Spoiler: it's not actually a model railway part at all, it started life as the translucent end cap of an HDMI cable, but is just the right shape and size for an Indeterminant Random Equipment Box kind of thing.

Lol I have a few boxes of odd bits and bobs from around the house that I look at and think, that just looks like it might be something in n scale! Many just sit there forever, but sometime it’s Ding! Ding! Ding!

i don’t really shop much at the train shows anymore except for looking for those treasured boxes of misc parts you can sometimes find for a few bucks. Getting harder to find, but always lots of little treasures in them.

I found the foam sheets way to fiddly for my Skills to be able to trim in close enough to the rails, so I mixed up some plaster and made a little tools to level the plaster and remove it from the insides of the rails.  Just need to let it dry and sand it down a little and hope that it works ok, lol!

I would suggest putting the two buildings with rounded/diagonal corners so that those corners face street intersections.

looks better - thanks for the tip.  I have some base colours down for the asphalt and concrete, but still need to do some weathering, etc.

Thanks! The sidewalks are 1/16” foam sheets cut to shape.  Super simple to use and easy to cut.  I think I got these ones from woodland scenics.

I spent a couple hours this afternoon decaling one of my new Tomix buildings.

I am all thumbs, so using a straight-edge razor and ruler to cut out and apply some of these

tiny stickers, is a pain in the neck.  Decaling is my least favorite aspect of this hobby.

At the beginning of the year I treated myself to a basic 3D printer. Thought it was time to use it for my layout. For some daft reason. there is a 7/11 store on a slope. the car park is slightly lower than the store. So I made this little parking area out of card. then printed the wall down the side and back. then did the kato trick of packing it out with greenery. In addition. The U shaped makers, (because I lack the ability to draw a line 😄) the raised kerb stones, the car park sign and nobori poles. Then hunted round the web for suitable images for the flags. Could only find 2 usable 7-11 ones so the Demon Slayer DVD got added. Created the Parking sign in MS Paint (not including the 7-11 logo) 11mm pachinko ball for scale.

Some spare Kato road barriers to the edge and put in place. Just to see the look. Although I'm going to have to add interior lights as the shop is so dark.

Sure its not perfect. But I'm enjoing doing it. And thats what counts.

Restart to build a small layout (Hakubi-Line-Style)... 😅

2400x250mm of the visible section, at the ends U-turn-modules 600x300mm.
