Hi all. My friend was having a look through his  purchases from some time ago that had been put aside and forgotten about. He showed me this loco and I immediately recognised it as Japanese . No makers name to be seen. The body appears to be brass and the loco number is EO or ED 77 or 1717.( Not sure about the marks between the number sevens)

Does anyone recognise what brand this is,age, history, etc. It runs very smoothly and quietly, but takes a lot of throttle to get going. Thanks for any help.

thanks Guys. were they early electrics using input from Britain? I was still wondering who made my model and if they have any value?

This is probably a Shinano Micro model. A company that existed before it switched from etched shells to plastic shells and changed its name to MicroAce.

some more purchases at a local hobby show over the weekend. I got a couple of the wagons thrown in and about 10% discount off the marked prices as well. A lot is brand new old stock. Can anyone tell me more about the Nakamura steamer which is tender drive and the Shinano Micro   suburban pair( no front running cab car  included) Also the little Micro ace diesel is something I have never seen. Oh and the Kato triple axle coach/ viewing car. Many thanks. The horse? wagon has Tomy Hong Kong under it. I also purchased a new Micro Ace 9600- steamer ( 79606) for $50 less 10%post-1342-0-11533200-1476665063_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-24804500-1476665073_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-09210600-1476665080_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-59650500-1476665091_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-19033200-1476665099_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-55676600-1476665106_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-86556000-1476665112_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-00826000-1476665122_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-53537500-1476665128_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-26498800-1476665134_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-79870000-1476665251_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-18383700-1476665259_thumb.jpgpost-1342-0-09053000-1476665267_thumb.jpg

The fast freight car is visible on many old pictures behind eh10-s (i have a whole rake of these car types from kawai but afaik they were tomix molds originally). The heavyweight saloon is something used mostly in prewar times. The 4 axle centercab diesel is still produced but can't remember by who. The yellow tomix fantasy loco is a playtime one and also in production in various colors including a tomix world one. The two axle centercab electric is currently made by kato in their pocket line. They are all nice old models and some are hard to find in good condition.

edit:

I think the 2 middle cars are JNR 103-1200 series made for Chuo - Tozai line interruning in their original color.

Not a bad haul, that lot!

This was only a portion of what the seller has for sale. there were 19 steamers, about 12 diesels, 20 odd electric locos, about 12-15  boxed EMU/EXPRESS/ SHINKANSEN SETS, about 12 double bogie freight wagons(I got all his single bogie wagons earlier), and  around 30 passenger coaches.

That was a great haul and nice prices! Looks like maybe someones's collection? I've not seen a pile as you have described at any of our train shows here! Just little piles or a couple of items here or there.

Thanks Jeff. the collection belongs to a well known radio celebrity who is in his 80's now. He was an excellent modeller and I saw his first scratchbuilt HOe layout based on New Zealand tramways(Pikki Pikki Tramway was featured on a DVD and put on you tube  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PXEgMdc4I0) when I was a young teenager. (this started me into N scale) I never realised he also collected Japanese N scale. His friend is selling his collection for him, but due to the small number of people collecting and running Japanese N scale in NZ and the fact they are spread all around NZ, he was only bringing to the show items I had requested from a list. I feel honoured to have them as he  was such an inspiration to me in choosing my modelling pathway

Nakamura Seimitsu (Nakasei) was a company that made N-scale kit white metal and kit plastic models from around 1980 to 1983 after making HO models (1978 - 1980). These models were mostly steamers, but also a few EMU, like the Meitetsu 7000, Keisei AE Skyliner, Nankai Kōya and the Tōbu 1720. Nakasei also offered a building and painting service for an extra fee for all their models. They also made plastic passenger cars and so on, but after their last release (D62) in 1983, the company silently died off. A very short lived company with quite a big number of releases in the few years they were active.

thanks Toni for the info. I would think it is white metal judging by the weight. Cool! something unique!

I also now have 2 models of the Shinano Micro ED1717. One secondhand and one brand new. should look good running together.
