LA Expo Line extension to Santa Monica opens to public

It has been more than six decades, but passenger rail is finally returning to the gridlocked Westside.

Metro's Expo Line extension opened today and will run from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica.

Metro passengers are getting free rides from downtown to Santa Monica until trains stop running Saturday night.

Cab ride eastbound from the stretch just before the 405 underpass to Culver City. Seeing the jacaranda trees in bloom made me a bit nostalgic. This is a pre-opening run made for community groups, so you get a lot of annoying yakking by N.A. females in the background.
