Derailment on Tobu Tojo Line

Derailment on Tobu Tojo Line shortly after noon today. Just outside Naka Itabashi Station. No passenger injuries. Cause still under investigation, but possibly a faulty bogie. Regular service to be restored by daybreak Thursday.

NHK is reporting that a crack approx. 15cm long and 12mm wide at its widest point was found on a bogie in the fifth carriage. However it is uncertain if the crack was responsible for the derailment, or the derailment caused the cracking.  Trainsets have inspections every three months, this particular trainset had its last inspection in March 7, with no defects found.
