Modemo on Kato Unitram problem.

A friend has problems with his Modemo Trams on the Kato Unitram tracks. The Modemo models get stuck in the curves. Is there a way to fix that? He has the NT 152,NT 128 and the NT 146.

Never had an issue with trams on Unitram curves. The radius is very generous.  Maybe an additional power pick up is needed.

I've run four axle Modemo trams on Unitram with no problem.  Getting through crossovers may be an issue without gunning it. N gauge tram wheelbases scale out to very close to 9mm. The same issue appears with Tomix Wide Tram. Its systemic to N gauge tram crossovers.  By best runners were a Modemo Tokyu 300 articulated (a fairly early version from 2007) and a Tomytec Centram articulated.  I assume there is dual power pick up on the articulated trams.

Sascha,

Has he looked at the wheels to make sure they are in gauge and the trucks are pivoting properly? Curves on unitram are not that tight that they should bind up small trams like that. Track clean? What is the behavior running in the reverse direction, is it getting stuck at the same spot?

^ What he said ^

Check the back to back measurement on the wheels, and compare it to something which runs properly on the same track pieces.

He checked it and they stop at the same spot both ways.

Is the track properly seated?  As this is double track pieces a single piece being unseated could stop both directions.

It also happened at the small Kato turnouts. He got it fixed. He had to bend the wheels on the bogie a little, and now it works.
