Is the E235 train set in daily use? I'm staying above Shinagawa station tonight and would certainly be happy to see a glimpse of it if it's in action.

Does anyone know if there is more than 1 set running?

Thanks very much for that. Still plenty of others to watch from above. Then it's time to jump online and see if there are models available!

Apparently now (18:31), the 235 series trainset is somewhere between Shinagawa and Tokyo (uchimawari)...

Speaking of the E235, not a shred of news about when will the first production trainsets will be assembled at the JR East Niitsu assembly line or at JTREC near Yokohama....

Likely the Niitsu Plant- the prototype was built there, so likely the project staff, production materials, jigs, fabrication machinery etc. are already there for the start of mass production when that comes.  Most (all?) of JR East's Tokyo Metropolitan Region commuter stock is built there, it has the nickname "birthplace of Tokyo Region JR Stock".  It also has easy access to adjacent JR track, so production examples can have verification testing done on mainline track without much bother before being delivered over the hill to the Kanto region.

The Kanazawa Ward plant of J-Trec is more focused on non-JRE orders (including foreign orders, such as the dedicated Bangkok Purple Line production line), and ltd. express rolling stock orders, which are more customized designs.

True, given that the E233's built in recent years are assembled at the Niitsu plant. Hopefully, we'll find out soon when will they actually start real E235 production there.
