kids half price like commuter tickets?

Following tickets are half price.

1. normal trip ticket
2. Express ticket
3. Seat reservation ticket

Followings are same with adult price.

1. Green car/Gran class ticket
2. Sleeper ticket
3. "commuter liner" ticket and some other seating ticket

Infant is free but handled as same as child if he/she needs a seat.

Above is for JR East and should be same among JR group.  Private railway having different rule.

Thank you.  I'd assume they were, but cannot find any English literature on the subject.  The companies probably make the assumption most will be travelling on rail passes.
