Australian Antique Truck Show - with old Japanese trucks and fire appliances

Today my son Harry and I made our annual trip out to Penrith to see the antique truck show that's held every May in the grounds of the Museum Of Fire. There was a marvellous display of old trucks, fire appliances and other comercial vehicles. There were two trucks in particular that got our attention, an old cab-over Hino and a Toyota tray top.

 

 

 

 

 

The proud owner of the Toyota very kindly put Harry in the driver's seat and let him start the truck up and blow the horn. Harry loved it!

 

 

On display inside the museum itself was another gem, a 1976 Toyota Landcruiser fire appliance from the city of Fujieda in Shizuoka Prefecture. Fujieda and Penrith have had a sister city relationship since 1984, and this lovely little truck was donated to the Museum as part of this relationship.

 

 

 

 

My organisation - the Sydney Tramway Museum -  exhibited two of the road vehicles in the collection, our AEC Matador breakdown truck and our Bedford tower wagon. That's my son Harry, my godson Elliot and his dad, my best mate Ben with the Matador.

 

 

The weather wasn't very good, but the show itself was great fun. And if you're ever in Penrith, the Museum of Fire is well worth a visit.
