  1. Press debut on Thursday. Will be used on Hida and Nanki limited express services.
  2. Trial run of the Jakarta MRT on Tuesday, March 12. Rolling stock is Nippon Sharyo.
  3. Interesting video of this stretch of track. Not the use of gauntlet tracks to prevent freight trains from impacting the high platform stations. No. California hills are quite green from the heavy rains of the past season.
  4. For those of you like rare equipment, here's JR East's latest KIYA type, a long rail carrier numbered E195. The cab is similar to or the same as some of JR Central's work trains, but that gear behind the cab is odd. A diesel/generator? It and some new KOKI cars were transported from Nippon Sharyo's factory in Toyokawa, Aichi on October 31. by The Dramatic 中央本線。
  5. Delay of two more years. Also read the DMUs in Toronto are also having large number of failures, mainly drivetrain related. http://www.wsj.com/articles/delays-may-derail-stimulus-funding-for-amtrak-railcars-1460308921 *if paywall encountered, use google search
  6. Here's a new container car type, the KOKI73. Interesting design, those low profile wheels will be tiny in N scale :). Also mentioned in the Tetsudou Fan news link, Nippon Sharyo also shipped two new KOKI107s with this, so road numbers 1259 and 1260 are now prototypically correct, in case you buy a lot of KOKIs . http://railf.jp/news/2016/01/09/205000.html http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/takemas21/35580912.html by 101seibu: by ASUKOOTO: by dd51de10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJyGX4dL7Qs
  7. Who wants some new freight cars? JR Freight (or Taiheiyo Cement) does! I noticed this Tetsudou Fan news item about HOKI1100-1 going for test runs. It was actually delivered last month from Nippon Sharyo. I seem to remember Taiheiyo cars at Kasadera, I wonder if these will have the same duties in the future. I'd go along on these tests provided I can ride in the caboose and not the so-called "research cabins" on the KOKI. Iyada! http://railf.jp/news/2015/11/16/123000.html https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/JR%E8%B2%A8%E7%89%A9%E3%83%9B%E3%82%AD1100%E5%BD%A2%E8%B2%A8%E8%BB%8A at Toyokawa Station, by TrainPochi between Shizuoka Freight and Higashi Shizuoka, by tobiiro3go
  8. Interesting drone views. Very Northern Californian suburban scenes.
  9. While looking for video of the retired Takayama Line KIHA40s on their way to Myanmar, I found these two videos of these two unique locos down at JR Central Kasadera, on the Meirin, and lastly at Oe Pier These were built by Nippon Sharyo for Baosteel. Is most/all track in China 1435mm? These appear to be on temporary trucks here. Date was June 26th. Do you have to hang out the window to drive them?
