  1. Hi Fans, In 2013, having a day off in Germany in the middle of the week when I was working for a customer in Düsseldorf, I've decided to go to Bochum Dahlhausen Railway Museum. It's a particular nice museum, esp. out of weekend days. They've lot of locotomotives, cars stored waiting for being refurbished etc .... The've also quite interesting "prototypes" (I let you triple click on the pictures to go to the max size and see details despite I've resized them to lower the impact on JNS site storage) This "Schienenbus" (litterally Railbus) An interesting DMV ("Schienen-Straßen-Omnibus") And this incredible "Tunnelmesswagen", thus a tunnel measuring service engine (Bo Bo) also known as "tunnel's hedgehog". and identified in Wikipedia as DB 712 001. I have a couple of pictures of steam locs (cold) as well as roundhouse etc ... I can post too. JM
  2. This is for USA-resident forum members. I will be placing a Modellbahn-Lippe order very soon. I had one of my reserved items come in and I am hoping some other reserved items come in in the next day or two. I have D&H decoders reserved and one model came in so I hope the others are right behind them. Modellbahn-Lippe offers no-VAT shopping (save the 19% German VAT that you normally see in the prices at most shops), good prices, and the lowest of the flat rate shipping from Europe. If you want to join my order, send me a PM with links to what you want. Once it comes in we can settle up -- I do not nee prepayment, just your 100% commitment. We can share the shipping from Europe and then you have to pay the shipping from me to you. They charge Euro 27.50 for UPS shipping to the US so it comes quickly once they ship (not SAL, not postal, not slow boat). Since my order with them is large, I would say probably 1 euro per piece would be your shipping share of the Germany -> USA shipping. If you get lots of pieces, it could be less than 1 Euro per piece. So, if you get 2 wagons and 2 decoders, your share would be 4 Euro. If you had 8 decoders and 4 wagons, probably 10 Euros. That sort of thing. I need to know for sure, with commitment, by this weekend (April 7) if anyone wants to include stuff in my order. Thanks
  3. Can anyone tell me the general location or region where this scene was recorded? I'm curious about the rolling stock on the far side track, the *high floor* single level s-bahn stock being used in push pull formation with an electric locomotive. Never seen that kind of setup.

  5. Any German speakers out there, asking for help regarding the availability of paper timetables at DB stations. It seems the system-wide timetable has ceased to be published, but the smaller, station-based timetables are still provided behind the counter, but you must ask for them at a nominal charge. Could you tell me what is the German term for these timetables (something perhaps along the line of "all services from this station"). I may be making a summer trip and visiting some of the bigger hub stations in southern/central Germany, and want the correct term so I can build a collection. BTW, these timetables are still provided free at SBB stations, off the rack. Thanks.
